Alfheim (Day of Openness)

Today is the end of June. We are at the halfway point in the year. What a day it has been. I had acupuncture today and it rained so hard almost all day. There were small gaps of blue sky between the large black clouds. I love looking at clouds watching them change all the time. I walked outside this evening and saw a small anole. It was green and trying to walk/hide at the same time. I think it gave up and stayed still hoping I didn’t notice.

My rune today was Fehu (cattle, property, and moveable wealth). It was interesting that I came across some videos on runic lore. I watched the first one for Fehu. The material was good but the narrator kept waving his hands and there was loud background noise making it difficult to hear at times.

I sent the Call for Submissions out for the First Harvest issue of the Oracle. The Oracle has been doing so well this year and now with the addition of Sara as assistant editor, my job is so much easier. While online tonight, I came across another quilling blog (http://quilliance.blogspot.com/). She makes beautiful jewelry. It is hard to believe that it is all made out of paper. I am glad I still have my quilling supplies out. I have been inspired.

Niflheim (Day of Generating)

My rune today was Algiz. This is the second time in three days that I have pulled this rune. This is another message that I need to take care of myself (protect myself).

I got an email informing me that VSN received my submission for the solid stamps. Now I just have to wait to see if any cards make it in the magazine or reader gallery. I spent the majority of the day working on algebra. My head is so full of nonsense!

Vanaheim (Day of Nurturing)

Today was my rescheduled dental cleaning. The original appointment had to be rescheduled because of my difficulty in breathing. I let them know that I was still having difficulty but that it was better. Luckily everything went well. I will have to go back next week to have two fillings replaced.

Today my rune was Tyr (warrior, sacrifice). I take is to mean I was a warrior at the dentist. The sacrifice is that I need to start watching what I eat. Since I haven’t been able to exercise or even walk without being out of breath, I need to watch my food intact.

There was a young female turkey in the yard this evening. She was walking and eating disregarding everything else. I tried to get a picture but the flash kept going off and I couldn’t see anything because of the glare from the window. I spent the rest of the evening working on algebra exercises (complex numbers and quadratic equations). The quadratic formula is definitely something I need to remember. If only I knew where I put my index cards….

Asgard (Day of Understanding)

I taught a class today – Pyramid cards. We used Distressed Ink and Nestabilities to create masculine cards. With today being the Day of Understanding, I thought it was appropriate to be patient and understanding with the students. This is the last class for the month. I don’t have another one until the open house event (Shop Hop) on July 23rd. I then have a class on July 29th. It is class full of glitter and embossing powders. I think the cards are great and I think they will go over well.

When I got home this evening I found out that I will have another card published in CardMaker Magazine, March issue. I submitted a quilled card with purple violets. Now I need to select a sentiment for the inside of the card and decide on how to decorate the matching envelope.

My rune today was Algiz (protection). This was my first trip out driving since the beginning of June I knew I needed to protect myself.

Freya’s Day – Jotunheim (Day of Discovery)

The rune I drew today was Othala (ancestral home). Today was a stay at home type of day. I didn’t get up until almost 11am. I guess my body needed the sleep. I spent a good part of the day writing my review of Stampfest and editing my photos. Tonight there was a new episode of Agatha Christie’s Poirot. It was very good and kept us in suspense all the way to the end.

We had some rain today but nothing like we had the last two days. At sunset, the sky cleared just enough to color the remaining clouds beautiful pinks, oranges, and purples. When I took the dog out for her last walk of the night, I looked for the moon but the clouds had moved back in.

Midgard (Day of Immersion)

I slept really well last night. I was concerned being in a hotel and not in my own bed that it would be difficult for me to sleep well. I woke up several times but was able to go back to sleep.

Today is Stampfest show. I definitely was immersed today. There were a lot of people at the show but not as many as in the past. There were problems with the hotel and the roof was leaking in different areas. What a mess! I spent about two hours at the show. There were so many nice things to see. I didn’t want to spend too much time or I would spent too much money. I got some nice things and can’t wait to use them. I spent time this evening finishing up the cards from the Make N Take.

We were planning on meeting at 8:45 a.m. but one friend wasn’t able to make it and said she would meet up with us in the show. Our first stop was Marco’s Paper. I wanted to make sure I got the two new Halloween stamp sets by Tweety Jill. She told us at the Make N Take that she only brought so many. There were Tweety Jill books for $5 a great price! I looked at the Nestabilities but decided against getting any.

The next stop was Just For Fun. I was looking for the Pearl Pen and the Distress Stain. I finally found the Pearl Pen but no stain. On my way to the register I saw a large witch flying on a broom stamp and had to stop.  In found two more stamps – a tiny witch flying on a broom and a sentiment “I love being witchy.”

Too Much Fun Stamps was not on our list to stop but their displays caught my eye. They had really great stamps that look like shirts or jackets, tiny books and folios that fold up into themselves. My friend bought several food themed stamps (dough with a rolling pin, gingerbread men, kitchen tools, etc. I bought two sentiment stamps: “Don’t make me poison your food” and “And your little dog too” from the Wizard of Oz. I also bought two packs of tiny cookie cutters to be used as embellishments, a string of holiday lights (I think it’s a necklace) and a tiny basket. I don’t know what I will use the basket for but it was too cute. I had to have it!

We went to Local King Rubber Stamps. This is a new company for me. The owner, Lisa, designs the stamps herself and her husband is the cutter. I got four sets for myself and one for a friend’s birthday. I was only going to get two but there buy four get one free sale was too hard to pass up.

Sarasota Stamps was the last purchase stop. I had to get the crab from the Make N Take. While looking around, I found the flamingo in a martini glass. How could I pass that up? And of course, the three snow people in a bucket was calling to go home with me.

We realized later that we missed Rubbernecker Stamps and my friend forgot to go back to Too Much Fun Rubber Stamps to use her $10 free coupon. We were definitely immersed. On the way out, the doors we came in were blocked. We were told to use another set of doors since the ceiling was collapsing in the outer hallway. What a mess!

My rune today was Raidho (cart, road) which makes perfect sense since we traveled in the car home from the show. I think it was a totem for us to be safe as we traveled since the weather was terrible. It was raining so hard it was difficult to see at times.
